Road to Sitting Bull Falls, NM

Two hundred million years ago this area was an inland sea. Sitting Bull Falls, one of the largest waterfall in New Mexico, is a small remnant of the water from this ancient time. The falls are the result of highly mineralized water flowing from a spring located in the canyon above. This is not Niagara Falls, it is more like a shower...

We got there just little before ranger closed the park gate. Therefore we did not get to see any of hiking trails, however had plenty of time to wonder at the falls. It was pretty amazing to see little colorful fall in middle of desert.
